In our previous post we spoke about our chosen charity for this year, Cure Leukaemia. This week we’re kicking off our Route 66 and Beyond fundraising campaign to build on the money we’ve already raised! But what is Route 66 and Beyond?
What we did last year
Last year was our 80 Day World Tour. As a company, we each used Fitbits to track our weekly miles, working in teams but also as a company to see how far around the world we could get. Our total miles as a company at the end of the week dictated where we ended up. We went from Crewe to London to Paris to Berlin, right the way round to Sri Lanka, 16,000 miles away. Wherever we ended up dictated the theme of that week’s charity buffet. There would be a donation bucket at each buffet and all proceeds went to our chosen charity for 2017, Alder Hey.
For every mile completed, we donated 10p to Alder Hey. Along with funds raised from our other charity fundraising events, we raised a total of £3331. Everyone got involved and helped raise a ton of money, getting fit and going to the gym more often in the process.
Route 66 and Beyond… What is it all about?
After last year’s success, we’re doing a similar challenge. However, this year’s challenge is Route 66 themed, and as such will last 66 days. Starting again in Crewe, we’ll be going on a tour of the U.S and Canada passing through Quebec, Chicago and Los Angeles and many other American and Canadian cities and states. The aim again is to raise money for our chosen charity while encouraging people to exercise more.
How you can help
Check out our Just Giving page! Here we’ll update our overall charity fundraising progress throughout the year with pictures and stories. We’re really hoping to beat last year’s achievement and raise even more this year, so any help would be much appreciated. You can also see a summary about our chosen charity this year both on our blog and our Just Giving page.
